Foster Care Service Opportunities
Not everyone is called to be a foster parent. Perhaps you have a calling to serve in a support role or simply have a heart for kids that are suffering. There are many other areas in which to serve.
Relief Care
The Foster Care Ministry is in the process of forming a training class to certify families or singles to provide relief care for foster families.
Respite Care
You provide the foster families current and future at Lake Pointe Church with a support system to provide respite care as needed. Respite care providers are foster-care certified and are available to foster families who need to have care for the foster children in their care for an extended period of time. These respite care families provide invaluable support to foster families. For example, if a foster parent must be out-of-state for an extended period to care for a sick family member, then a respite care family will assist.
CASA volunteering
The Foster Care Ministry is in the process of building a training program for those interested in CASA volunteering. For more information on CASA, www.dallascasa.org
Sponsoring a child/children at a group home
Find out how you or your ABF group can get involved and play an active role in a child's life at a local group home. There is a constant need for supplies, but more than that most of these kids don't ever get birthday parties or visitors on the weekends.
Additional Opportunities for Support
additional opportunities to care for the fatherless, see Mission Opportunities under Orphan Ministry.
Foster Family Support Group
This support group meets every third Thursday to support current foster families, foster families with placement pending, or families considering foster parenting or foster adoption. The material for this meeting will be provided by Buckner, and each meeting will qualify for 1.5 hours of training credit toward foster training requirement. For a list of dates and times, please see Current Events.
